As a wedding photographer I get to see some beautiful decorations, color combinations, flowers, dresses, cakes and more. Each wedding has some sort of unifying color or theme, but a cute idea I saw this spring was a monarch butterfly themed wedding. This couple worked the butterflies in beautifully throughout the day and I just had to share it here!
It all started with the RING! The engagement ring was a round solitaire flanked by silver butterflies on a dainty silver band. The bride’s other jewelry followed suit. Light blue earrings and a necklace featuring butterflies added a little color to her ensemble.
Instead of a traditional book, guests signed paper cutouts that the couple can use in a craft project for display in their home. Floral arrangements on the altar featured the pretty orange color and small butterfly accents wired in place.
After the ceremony, the wedding party and guests released live Monarchs in to the sunny June sky. Some took off right away while others decided to perch on the trees, bouquets, and even the flower girl’s shoulder for a bit before flying off
The theme came full circle in the centerpieces at the reception. Glass vases filled with lighted branches and faux monarch butterflies brought a little nature indoors and looked beautiful in the dim light of the reception hall.
Everything looked great and the couple was surrounded by friends and family for the perfect day. Here are a few photos of the special details they put in place:
