Senior Portrait Touch-ups

Seniors, I know you want to look your best for your portraits–so you take extra care of your skin, you try your hair a few different ways and you do a test run on your makeup before your senior session.  But did you realize how much the photographer you choose can help ensure your portraits make you look like a million bucks?!

When selecting your senior portrait photographer look at a lot of their portfolio work (My senior portfolio can be found here).  Ask yourself these questions ~ Does their posing look natural?  Are their backgrounds and locations unique?  How does the color and lighting look?  Does it look like they just snapped using the little on-camera flash or is the lighting even and professional?

And what about editing?  Is their portfolio full of seniors with flawlessly touched-up skin?  Is the color in the image appropriate?  Do the images have that extra little something that make them stand out?

At Landgraf Photography you will see attention to all of these details and more!   Here’s an example of my typical senior portrait edit.  I start with the skin to fix any little blemishes or stray hairs over the face.  Then I make sure the color and shadows/highlights all look great.  Finally, I might finish it off by adding a slight vignette to darken the edges, or add a light texture over the image, or even try the photo out in black & white.

I tend to take a simple and natural approach to editing (though once in a while I’ll go out on a limb and try something funky just to see how I like it–what artist doesn’t?!)

Give me a call if you like what you see!  I’m only taking limited senior sessions this summer so book soon to get the best dates!!
